Being Blythe: March 2013

Today I am five months old. Almost half a year already! Here's an update on what I've been up to the past month.

Since I rolled from my back to my belly that one day I have not done it since. So far it was just a one time fluke. I'm a pretty content little girl. I still like to lay under my play mat, play in the exersaucer and swing in my swing sometimes. One of my favorite things to do is watch Cohen play. He could keep me entertained for a long time. I love when he talks to me and he loves when he can get me to smile.

I have had a nick name for awhile now but keep forgetting to tell about it. Mom, Dad and Cohen call me "Mudge" sometimes, well, quite often actually. "Mudge, Mudgie or Mudgers" They say it's short for curmudgeon, since I get this 'bah hum bug" look on my face quite often. Sometimes I'm just not impressed by things, Mom always says she thinks my personality is going to be more like Daddy's, more quiet and serious. We shall see I guess.

Sleeping: Well, I'm still a pretty good sleeper. I usually go to bed for the night around 9:00 p.m. Some nights I sleep through until 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. Other nights I wake around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. to eat. When I do wake I just eat, get a diaper change and go right back to bed. Mom and Dad can't seem to figure out any rhyme or reason to why I wake and why I don't. I just like to keep them guessing I guess. I always suck my thumb to soothe myself to sleep. I've kind of gotten to where I like Mom or Dad to snuggle me a little before I lay down. I like to be covered with a blanket and rocked a little before sleeping. I also like Mommy to sing to me if I am really upset or over tired.

Naps: I still nap quite often during the day but I'm starting to stay awake a little longer at a time. Now I'm usually up for about 2 hours, nap for 45 minutes - 1 hour. Repeat. Except for my one long afternoon nap that's usually about 2 - 2 1/2 hours long. Sometimes I take two long naps in a day. I guess my brother was really routine. I am a little bit but not to the extreme Mom and Dad say he is.

Eating: I eat about 4-5 ounces every 3 hours or so. Before bed I eat 5-6 ounces and when I wake, in the night and in the morning I eat 5 or 6 ounces. I am eating baby oatmeal cereal once a day. I get that at dinner time. I usually sit in my high chair and Mom or Dad feeds me my cereal while they eat dinner, so we all sit at the table together and have dinner.

I love to grab and chew on toys, like teething rings, little toys with teethers attached to it.

I enjoy going places and I am good about riding in the car, as long as we keep moving. If we have to stop at a stop light or wait for something it better be quick or I'm going to get angry.

I still enjoy my bath. This past month or so I started taking it still in my baby tub but it's inside the big bath tub now instead of over the kitchen sink. I started kicking and splashing too much that I'd have the kitchen floor and counter soaked, so Mommy moved me to the bathroom for that.

Basketball always seems to grab my attention when it's on TV. Daddy things I'm going to be his basketball watching buddy.

Mommy said Cohen started doing a lot of exciting things when he was six months old. It will be fun to see what kind of fun things I start doing in the next month.
