Weekend with Cota Family

This past weekend we went back to Harpers to celebrate our Great Grandpa and Grandma Cota's 65th Anniversary. It was a pretty special day for our family. We had a celebration at their farm, followed by a Mass for them (which I missed because I was pretty cranky and tired), then cake and ice cream afterward in the church hall.

Busy and Sleepy Girl

I've been a pretty busy girl practicing pulling myself up on things. I have pulled myself up a few times in my crib. I can't pull up on everything yet but I'm learning. Dad got one of Cohen's old toys out for me. It's a little music table I can stand at and play.

All this learning must be making me tired because the last two nights I slept all through the night - almost 12 hours each night. I even slept through a really loud thunderstorm last night. Mom said she kept thinking I was going to wake up but I never did. She's hoping this is the new normal. I won't make that promise just yet, but I'll think about it.

My First Swim

Well....maybe not really a swim but more a splash. Either way it was my first time in my new pool. Cohen played in his big pool and I played in my little pool. I liked it until I got tired. Then it was nap time.

Clap, clap, clap

I have been clapping my little hands all day today. When Mommy or Daddy says "pat-a-cake" or just when I'm sitting playing I'll just clap my hands. Mommy thinks it's so cute. I'm just doing my new trick.

Eight Months Old Today

I turned eight months old today! I'm getting to be such a big girl - not quite as I think I am, but still getting big. :)

Let's see...in the past month I've started crawling, trying to pull myself up on things - even succeeding sometimes, starting to learn pat-a-cake and doing a lot more jabbering, like I'm trying to make actual words.

My sleeping habits are pretty similar to what they have been. I go to bed around 8:45, wake once in the night anywhere from 2:00-5:00 (sometimes even 6:00), eat, get a dry diaper and go back to sleep for 4-5 more hours.

Mom and Dad lowered my crib and put my breathable bumper in because I'm working really hard at pulling myself up in there and last week I got my leg all the way through the slats, bent back around and my foot through the next slat over. It was a pickle and woke me (and Mom to rescue me) in the night.

Eating habits have changed a little bit this past month. Most days I now eat three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm also eating puffs and Mum Mum bars as snacks. I am down to 3-4 bottles a day; my one bottle in the night, one in the afternoon, sometimes a small one in the evening then my night time bottle. My middle of the night one is 7-8 oz, afternoon is 6 oz, bedtime is 8 oz and if I have the evening one it's about 4 oz. I also have some formula in my sippy cup with meals.Usually just 1 -2 ounces but I am getting much better with my sippy cup.

I'm obsessed with Marlie. I crawl to her all the time. I lay in her bed with her, rub my head against her, try to take her chewies and grab at her. She's very patient with me but Mom and Dad only make her be patient for so long before they make me leave her alone.

I'm a very drooley girl. I always have been so Mom and Dad don't think it has anything to do with getting more teeth. I still just have my bottom two teeth.

Things Mom and Dad are working on teaching me are, "Mama", "Dada", "Cohen", "Eat", Drink", pat-a-cake, so big, "up", "bye-bye" and waving. The only thing I'm really sort of doing is pat-a-cake but we'll see what this month brings. :)

Pat-A-Cake

I am learning how to do pat-a-cake. I still have a little work to do but I'm getting it. I have started putting my little hands together with Mom and Dad say pat-a-cake. I even move them together and apart a little bit sometimes.

I know if I keep working at it, I'll get it!

New Cousin

I got a new cousin! I'm not the baby in the family anymore. My Uncle Dolly and Aunt Kari had a baby boy on Tuesday, May 28th. His name is Flynn Keith!

We knew Kari was going to have him on Tuesday so we went to CF to wait for his arrival so we could meet him. Mommy went to work for the day at DTI so Dadd, Cohen and I hung out and played with Reese and Grandma D at Dolly and Kari's house.

As soon as we heard the baby was here we got ready and went to visit as soon as they were ready for us. He is a cute little cousin. I can't wait until we're bigger and we can play together.

Memorial Day

I celebrated my first Memorial Day! We headed to Harpers. I kept hearing about this parade but I didn't know what a parade was. I finally got to see one for myself.

But first, on Saturday we spent the day at Granny's house playing and seeing her.

Sunday we went to the HF Fire Station for the Rescue Squad's pancake breakfast. I can't wait until next year when I can actually have pancakes! After that we celebrated my Great-Grandma D's 95th Birthday! She was the oldest one there and I was the youngest one there! :)

Grandma D, Dady

After the party we went to Grandma, Grandpa, Dolly and Kari's cabin. I played there for a little while with Grandma and Mom while Grandpa, Dad and Cohen went off to do something in the mud.

On Monday we went to the parade! I saw my Godparents, Dewey and Danette, their kids and my Great-Grandma Jones. The parade was loud but they kept my ears covered when the sirens would sound. Cohen seemed to have fun grabbing candy. I bet I will too when I'm bigger.

We saw Grandpa Cota marching in the parade with the Legion.
